This week was the last formal Monday meeting for member Stan Paull, who is about the relocate back to Melbourne. We’ll be getting together for dinner next Monday to farewell Stan and his wife Sandy. They will be sorely missed.
Our guest this week was Rotary International district governor Lorraine Coffey. Lorraine is a Rotarian from the Armidale club and is touring the district delivering the message of the new Rotary International president Paul Rassin.
Paul is calling all Rotarians to “BE THE INSPIRATION” this year and to leap:
L – Love and caring
E – Enthusiasm – Show empathy
A – Audacity – be audacious
P – Proof – show proof – lead by example.
Lorraine’s partner Dennis also spoke about his project this year to raise funds for Motor Neuron Disease. There are currently 2,200 people in Australia with the disease, with 2 people diagnosed each day and 2 people dying every day.
Dennis hopes to raise $36,000 to fund a PHD project at Macquarie University. Part of his fund raising is to sell 3,000 tickets in a raffle at $10 each. The main prize will be a portrait by well known artist Barry McCann.
For all that and more, be sure to check out this week’s edition of the Coffs City Chatroom.
