This week President Paul advised that he’d received a letter from Waratah Respite Services about issues they’re continually having with antisocial and illegal behavior due to their close proximity to the Community Village. They stipulate the problem isn’t caused by the homeless people utilising Pete’s Place but by a small percentage of people coming into the Community Village and camping in the vicinity. They’ve contacted our local members of parliament, Council and Councillors in effort to have the problem addressed and are simply seeking our support to have their concerns heard and hopefully addressed.
President Paul also suggested that we try to get some interesting guest speakers for our Zoom meetings, so if you know of anyone you think would be a good candidate, please contact President Paul, Macca or Bernard Dowling.
President Paul mentioned that there has been some security issues associated with Zoom meetings, whereby uninvited people have “bombed” meetings and displayed offensive and/or inappropriate
material. In order to prevent this he suggests we arrange password security for our meetings and will try to have this available for next week’s meeting.
Bob Carle enquired about this year’s Changeover function. President Paul has discussed this with President-elect Jay and, subject to a relaxation of Covid-19 restrictions, we will hold an informal event at Boambee Bay Reserve on Saturday 4th July.
For all that and more be sure to check out this week’s edition of the Coffs City Chatroom.
