This week we were joined by Rotary Youth Exchange students Bianca Saikale (from Brazil) and Nina Vilain (from France). Nina is sponsored by Gunnedah & Gunnedah West Rotary Clubs and was in the area visiting a Sawtell exchange student.
Brian Leiper reminded members to support exhibitions at the Bunker Cartoon Gallery and to visit when possible. The Bunker has a Caricatures event opening next Friday 6 February 2018, and entry is only a gold coin donation.
Graham Lockett advised that this year’s C.Ex McDonalds Coffs Coast Cycle Challenge will be held on 28 October. The Cycle Challenge committee recently held a meeting with Judy Smith and Graham is preparing letters to be sent to all of last year’s sponsors as a reminder for this year’s event. The 2018 date is two months later than the challenge would normally be held, and will require the club’s Bonville International Golf Resort Charity Day to be moved to earlier in the year. The preference at this stage is for 26th August with more details to come as the year progresses.
On a sadder note for the club, President Bernard advised that his wife Carmel has been appointed principal at a private school at Moama on the NSW/Victorian border and they’re proposing to relocate in March, meaning he will then have to resign as president. This will necessitate some interim changes pending and the appointment of a new president once Bernard and Carmel move south.
For all that and more, check out this week’s edition of the Coffs City Chatroom.
