This week, Secretary Geoff advised that we had received a letter from Bianca Saikale-Lima, our recent’y departed exchange Student. Bianca has experienced some difficulty settling down at home and speaking Spanish again. Fortunately, her mother and sister had learnt a little English having from their inbound exchange student while Bianca was away. Bianca has applied for another exchange and, while she would love to return to Australia, it was not allowed under the rules of the exchange so she has nominated for Germany.
President Ross reminded us that Bob Carle will be doing his thing again this Movember and encouraged each of us to support this very important fundraising event for men’s health. Rosco even went so far as to suggest that he would shave off his magnificent moustache in support if Brian Leiper shaved off his beard. Brian declined; explaining that his beard was still in a development stage even after almost 50 years.
Graham Lockett thanked all members and their partners who assisted on Saturday and Sunday at the C.ex McDonald’s Cycle Challenge. While the weather was not great, most of those who participated seemed to enjoy the rides. Special thanks to those on marshall duty who had to deal with the few disgruntled people who were put out by road closures and detours. As Graham said it was great camaraderie amongst our members particularly on the Sunday afternoon packing up the gear and enjoying a beer at the Pier after the job was completed.
Our guest speaker this week was the club’s own Jay Clowes, who regaled us with tales of his recent holiday in America. You can see some of Jay’s photos below.
For all that and more, be sure to check out this week’s edition of the Coffs City Chatroom.
