This week, the annual Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS) stickers were available. RAWCS was formed to enable Australian Rotarians, Rotary Districts and Rotary Clubs to assist disadvantaged communities and individuals through humanitarian aid projects, and raises funds by selling stickers to Rotarians each year. Members agreed it would be easier for all concerned if those present took a sticker and a list was given to Treasurer Eddie with the cost to be billed electronically.
We also discussed Coffs Harbour Rotary’s ongoing bookfest project and the possibility of assisting them with the event.
Our guest speaker was Reverend Graham Whelan OAM, who provided a brief history
of The Rats of Tobruk and the enormous impact they had on World War II. This year marks the 80th Anniversary of the Rats of Tobruk Association. Bruce Robertson gave Reverend Whelan a vote of thanks on behalf of the members. Reverend Whelan then made a very generous gift of $500 to the club in support of our good work.
For all that and more, be sure to check out this week’s edition of the Coffs City Chatroom.
